Oak timber framing
& traditional joinery
Characterful pavilions, gazebos, entrances and oak details, made with traditional joinery and an appreciation for English country architecture.
We see a future in oak that might otherwise be burned or buried. Through patient craftsmanship, it is transformed and remade into something beautiful—each piece finding its place within a greater whole, made to last generations.

An oak tree can spend generations growing. We believe its story should continue long after it leaves the land.
When land is cleared, good oak can end up in a burn pile or buried in the ground. We see something else: the beam over a family’s table, the frame of a gathering place, or the entrance that welcomes people home.
Based in Kleefeld, Manitoba, The Quartersawn Oak Company connects land clearing with traditional oak craftsmanship. We seek out suitable oak that might otherwise go to waste, select it for its potential, and work it into timbers, joinery and architectural details.
Each timber has its own grain and character. Through careful selection and traditional joinery, individual pieces become part of something greater: a frame that shelters people, an entrance that welcomes them, a place where families gather. Our ambition is to make beautiful, useful architecture that will be cared for and passed on for generations.
That is what From land to architecture means to us.
This work carries a meaning close to my heart. In oak that has been overlooked, I see a reflection of us: imperfect, sometimes broken, yet deeply valued by One who sees beyond what we are today.
My faith holds that we can be redeemed and remade into something beautiful, each finding our place within a greater whole. Working with oak gives me a tangible way to express that hope.

Solid oak posts and beams, exposed knee braces, and pegged joinery. A place where the wood becomes part of everyday life: shelter for a quiet evening, a family meal, or time spent together.
Hand-hewn timbers bring a different kind of finish: facets, texture and individual character. From fresh tool marks to a richly coloured surface, the detail is there to be seen and felt.

Land clearing and property cleanup: opening up overgrown ground and working around the trees that remain. These site photographs show the work in progress.
Whether you have land to clear, oak logs worth saving, or a space waiting for something special, there is a place to begin.

Hand-worked beams, mantels and individual oak components. Honest texture and natural variation bring depth to both new spaces and restoration work.
